Gardening Group

Some of our Gardening Group ladies at the Spittal Seaside Festival.

One of our projects was to create a small force of volunteers that can assist NCC to maintain the main planted areas in the village, especially Seafield Park adjacent to the Bowling Club.

This has been a successful enterprise over the years and has seen a number of areas transformed through the Group’s efforts along with support from NCC personnel and local tradesmen. In 2017 we received a Silver Merit award from Northumbria in Bloom in the Best Residential Community category. The group has also staged a number of very successful fundraising “Tea in the Park” events at Seafield Park each year.

The Reindeer and stars created by Len Shepherd which are lit in the park each Christmas.

Thanks to Len’s efforts the seats were also transformed from the condition above.
Into the newly restored version like the one above.

Neil Skelly, owner of Greencast has been a great help in various group efforts.

A generous donation from Jus-Rol allowed us to purchase a bowser for watering plants on the street and in the park.
