Gardening Group Raffle

We are holding a fundraising raffle for our Gardening Group with some great prizes on offer including First prize of a beautiful stained glass panel of Berwick Pier taken from Spittal, (approx. 58cm x 32cm) donated by Linda Gibbons. Linda, who takes classes for stained glass in Burnmouth, has lived in Spittal over thirty years and appreciates what the group is trying to do for the village.

In fact, all the prizes have been handmade by people either living in Spittal or associated with the Gardening Group. Lynda Scott from Caroline House has donated a necklace and earrings made with cornelian stones collected from Spittal beach. This summer she is arranging beach combing trips, with jewelry making classes afterwards.
Jim Walker of Spittal has kindly donated a photograph of A H Robinson’s 1903 view of the Rowing Club and Old Bridge, taken from the west. The framing of the photograph has been donated by Mark Irving of The Irving Gallery in Bridge Street.

Irene Thomson, a new member of our group has made a quillow (a cushion with a quilt inside for chilly nights!) The cushion has an applique design of Spittal on the front with a colourful collage of sky, sea and sand made with beautiful material kindly donated by Bella B of Hide Hill, Berwick.
David Purvis from Condottieri in Greenwich Road, who also lives in Spittal, is donating a stained glass panel of a sea scape.

Other prizes include a watercolour of Spittal by Dorothy Slater and a small hand carved wooden spoon by Ruth Robertson, both members of our group.

Tickets are available from Spittal Food Store, gardening group members and on www.spittalisgreat.co.uk.
