Friday 10am – Richard Moore at B.U.R.C
We are delighted to confirm the Gardening Group has retained their Gold award in this year’s Northumbrian in Bloom awards. We’d like to thank everyone who supports our fundraising events without which we could not continue our good work.
In 2018 Spittal Gardening Group were delighted to receive recognition for their work in Seafield Park, Spa Well and the Main Street with a gold award in Northumbria in Bloom. This year’s awards haven’t been announced yet but we’ve been working hard to keep Spittal blooming.
We have recruited a few more volunteers recently and we now have plans to restore and improve the Rose Garden in Middle Street. We have a mammoth task ahead of us as there is so much clearing of sycamore trees and brambles etc to be done, before we can get started in restoring the garden to somewhere we can all sit in and enjoy, something we haven’t been able to do for years.
We are planning a one off volunteer work day, supported by Northumberland County Council, on Saturday 5th October from 10am onwards. We are hoping for as many volunteers as possible to help bring the area to a state where we can then maintain it. Many hands make light work! We are also planning to plant lots of crocuses so we have a longer flowering season.
Lunch, morning and afternoon tea with home bakes etc will be provided in the BURC Church Hall. If you can bring your own gloves, secateurs, loppers etc that would be most appreciated.
Hope to see you there, even if you can only spare a couple of hours, morning or afternoon!
